Background

Amanda-Joy Wright is a PhD student in the department of Comparative Human Development working with Dr. Onnie Rogers. She previously received her M.A. in Developmental Psychology from Cornell University, where she studied how cultural and societal expectations influence the mental health and well-being of Black women.

Research

Amanda is interested in the mental health and well-being of Black girls and women, with a focus on how they navigate and construct their identities in a racialized and gendered society. She also co-leads an after-school program that fosters healthy identities and supportive relationships among adolescent Black girls.
