Background

Ashley Uphoff is a PhD student in the Department of Comparative Human Development. She completed her MA in Social Science with a certificate in Education and Society at the University of Chicago in 2020. Previously, she completed a BA in Educational Studies and served an Americorps member in Indiana, where she directed a non-violence curriculum with kids ages 3-Adult.

Research

Ashley’s dissertation research investigates how high school students’ opportunities to learn, particularly coursework offerings, affect their long-term academic and professional success. Overall, Ashley employs quantitative methods to explore topics at the intersection of adolescent development, schooling, and educational policy.
